Atopic eczema, also known as atopic dermatitis, affects newborns as well as adult men and women. According to international studies, 4.4% of adults in Europe suffer from it. This chronic condition can come and go over the years, causing discomfort throughout a person’s life. Due to a weakened skin lipid barrier, the skin loses its ability to retain moisture, becoming dry and sensitive to external factors. Eczema patches are rough, scaly, and often accompanied by persistent itching. Inflamed skin typically appears red on lighter skin tones, and purple, brown, or gray on darker complexions.

At Gentle Gesture, we believe that feeling good about yourself is one of the small victories in the battle with skin conditions. Comfort and functionality are our top priorities. But we certainly don’t forget about aesthetics—we design our clothing so that you can think about your eczema as little as possible. We choose non-irritating materials and functional details, but we are equally thoughtful about fit and overall design. We don’t pretend that appearance is superficial or unimportant—on the contrary, two-thirds of our team studied fashion and still work in the field today.
We consider the creation process just as important as the final product, which is why our garments are made in the Czech Republic. Throughout the entire production process, we choose smart solutions to ensure our clothing and packaging are made as sustainably and responsibly as possible.
